My family and I just returned from a whirlwind 8 day vacation to Southern California.  We are trying hard to recover before I have back to back to back days of sessions/events coming up this weekend.  And I have two outstanding sessions that still have yet to be edited and blogged.  To say things have gotten busy since the weather became nice is an understatement… But I thrive off the busyness, so I can’t complain.  🙂

While I catch up on all my editing and blogging, here’s a little impromptu session I did on our loooong drive home from So Cal.  It was nice actually, just taking our time on the trip back.  No real agenda or deadline.  Just stopping as we wanted along the way.    As the sun started to go down I noticed the light was AMAZING.  I also noticed we were driving alongside some open fields… I mentioned to my husband that all we’d have to do is access a side street from an upcoming offramp to get to the fields and we could snap some awesome pictures of the kids.  It’s not every day I have wide open fields and gorgeous sunsets to work with ya know.  My husband wasn’t too keen on the idea, though.  You know the whole thought of possible trespassing or, even worse, SNAKES.  {He hates snakes}  Instead, since he loves me so much, he noticed there was a truck stop / rest area up ahead and mentioned we pull over there to see if there were any fields on either side or behind it.  So we did that instead.  And, wouldn’t you know it, there was a beautiful flower-filled field just behind the building.  It was gorgeous.  You’d never even know it was a truck stop!  To make matters better, the kids LOVED having their pictures taken that evening.  I don’t know what got into them but even my son was into it.  I think they were just happy to have an excuse to get out of the car and stretch their legs a bit.  Here’s the end result:

That last one is one of my all time favorites of them.  *sigh*
