2014 is sure to be an exciting year! Not only do I have sessions and events booked through May, I already have quite a few weddings booked all the way through October! I cannot wait for all these amazing couples to get married, and see the plans for their “big day” come to light! I’m so excited to capture all the details for them. Mostly, I’m excited to view celebration with their friends and family, and their joy + love through my camera. Cannot! Wait! My first engagement session for the year is tomorrow, and I had one in late December as well, so keep an eye out for both of those to be hitting the blog soon! (Psss… here’s an adorable sneak peek from December’s e-session…)
That said, I came across a great video from News10 highlighting some wedding trends for 2014 and thought I’d share for current or prospective brides.
For gowns lace is still very trending. Overlays, sleeves and sashes are all great details that can add texture and interest to any dress. Also, hi-lo hemlines we are seeing everywhere are making their way to the aisle as well. A hemline such as this that’s high in the front and low in the back is perfect for Sacramento’s hot summers and to show off cute shoes that would otherwise be hiding under the layers of your dress. And mermaid style gowns are flattering on many different body types and show off great curves!
For décor, they mentioned that the muted pastels may not be as popular this year, and that accent colors may be richer and deeper. Royals and jewel tones are in. And did you hear Pantone’s color of the year is radiant orchid? We will undoubtedly see a lot of purples and blues. Lastly, for cakes bright white will continue to be the most popular. Who doesn’t love a crisp clean cake with a touch of texture brought in through different frosting techniques, accents, and flowers?
